Web site premieres streaming video broadcasts of two CNNfn shows
|
NEW YORK (CNNfn) -- CNNfn.com is now offering live, on-demand Web video to complement CNN financial news' broadcasts using Web Theater 2 technology from VXtreme Inc.
Currently, streaming video and audio from two shows is available: Digital Jam, which airs at 11 a.m. ET, and Business Unusual, shown at 8:30 p.m. ET. Regular financial news updates are also shown. By the end of the second quarter, the network's entire lineup will be broadcast on the Web.
Lou Dobbs, executive vice president of CNN and chief executive of CNN Financial News, said the VXtreme effort further illustrates the network's commitment to finding new and creative ways to offer value to Web site visitors and television viewers.
"By putting our television programs on our Web site, CNNfn will reach a new audience and desktop PC users will have access to the most comprehensive source of business news available.
"We selected VXtreme technology because it is the highest-quality solution on the market for video and is built to handle the demand posed by the high traffic on CNNfn.com," Dobbs said.
To view video through VXtreme, Web users must first download a plug-in that works with either Netscape Navigator or Microsoft's Internet Explorer. Currently, a plug-in is available for both Windows 95 and Windows NT. VXtreme will release plug-ins for the Macintosh by next quarter.
