Airline strikes tentative deal with 1,900 regional pilots
|
NEW YORK (CNNfn) - American Eagle, the regional airline of Dallas-based AMR Corp., parent of American Airlines, Thursday reached a tentative settlement with its 1,900 pilots.
The carrier said the proposed contract would give Eagle pilots annual wage adjustments and establish a new framework for negotiating subsequent contracts. No specific details on wage increases were given.
AMR and the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) said the agreement in principle proposes a single contract that would offer one seniority roster for all of its pilots.
American Eagle pilots fly for one of four wholly-owned AMR Eagle carriers and each has its own contract and seniority roster. The tentative contract would consolidate those agreements and seniority lists while maintaining each carrier as a separate operating unit.
ALPA's executive council is set to take up the agreement May 28. If that group endorses the proposal, it will then go to the full membership for a vote. That process will take several weeks.
Thursday's agreement followed nine months of negotiations.
