Says it will appeal $346 million lawsuit judgment over software
|
NEW YORK (CNNfn) - Entergy Enterprises Inc., the non-utility division of the New Orleans-based electricity provider Entergy Corp., said Monday it will appeal the $346 million judgment reached against the company.
"[Entergy] will vigorously pursue all avenues to overturn [the verdict]," the company said in a statement.
On Friday, a judge in the Orleans Parish, La. civil court awarded $346 million to Catalyst Technologies Inc. after a three-week trial.
Catalyst said that Entergy failed to transfer computer software to Catalyst as agreed upon. However, Entergy maintains that it was not obligated to transfer the technology and said it believes the judgment will be "significantly reduced" upon appeal.
