CHICAGO (CNNfn) - Mitsubishi Motor Manufacturing of America and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission have agreed to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit, officials said Wednesday.
Both sides declined to comment on the details of the settlement ahead of a Thursday news conference Thursday.
Mitsubishi Motor Manufacturing of America is a unit of Mitsubishi Motors Corp.
The EEOC sued Mitsubishi in April 1996 on behalf of 300 women employees at the company's plant in Normal, Ill. in what became the largest sexual harassment lawsuit in U.S. history.
Last year, Mitsubishi settled a private harassment lawsuit brought by 29 workers at the plant, for $9.5 million.
In a court filing last year, the EEOC described sexual harassment at the plant as "repeated, routine, generalized, serious, pervasive and known to and supported by management." The company had argued that the government could not prove a broad "pattern" of harassment.
