Worth at least $187 million, cubicle dweller is a long way from grad school
|
ATLANTA - This isn't just a search for the most palatial offices we can find every week. Sometimes the millionaire next door is in a cubicle.
Instead of a water cooler, people here gather at the Foosball table.
There's an arcade game too -- Donkey Kong Jr.
Maybe that playful spirit is behind the success of his 155-person staff. All this is a big step up for the founder. He started this business in grad school, in a lab space so trashy one friend called it "a cockroach's idea of Christmas."
Here's his cubicle today, the office of a multi-millionaire.
This is supposed to be a paperless industry, but paper is everywhere, even in boxes under the desks.
A futon for informal meetings, and an armchair.
A jumbo Rolodex. Maybe he needs it because his business serves 25-40 million people each month, twice as many as his nearest competitor.
On the shelves, awards -- lots for such a young guy, even one who's been called, "Generation X's most influential member."
Newspaper articles in English and other languages. His company's making big news in Asia right now.
An ice cream carton, apparently without any leaks.
So search your brain. Guess whose cool digs these are.
