Vysis upbeat, Orbital Sciences takes off, and French Fragrances a Wall St. stinker

NEW YORK (CNNfn) - A fragrance vendor left investors holding their noses on Tuesday, while a company that makes cancer-related tests was feeling healthy atop the day's list of market movers.
One Wall Street stinker Tuesday was French Fragrances (FRAG), which fell 1-7/8 to 5-1/8 after the perfume maker said its third quarter and fiscal year earnings will fall short of analysts' expectations due to weak retail sales and an inventory buildup.
Headed skyward was Orbital Sciences (ORB), shooting up 3-5/16 after the small- and mid-sized satellite maker said on Monday it has set a 25 percent a year revenue growth target for the next several years and a $1 billion revenue goal by 2000.
Vysis (VYSI) shot up 2-3/8 to 8-5/8 after a U.S. Food and Drug Administration advisory panel voted in favor of marketing approval for its new breast cancer diagnostic test.
Genesis Direct (GEND) fell 9/16 to 4-11/16 after the database specialty retailer announced late Monday a restructuring effort expected to result in a charge of up to $10 million for its third quarter.
The company said it hired Goldman Sachs and Schroder & Co. to evaluate alternatives in the face of buyout or investment bids. Genesis also reported Monday a widening loss in its fiscal second quarter.
Intensiva Healthcare (IHCC) soared up 2-31/32 to 9-7/32 after the acute long-term care provider said it agreed to be bought by private Select Medical for $9.625 per share, or about $110 million.
ICN Pharmaceuticals (ICN) plunged 3-1/16 to 20-3/8 after the drug maker reported a net loss of 89 cents a share in its third quarter due in part to troubles in its Russian and Eastern European markets.
Analysts polled by First Call expected a loss of 2 cents per share.
