NEW YORK (CNNfn) - DaimlerChrysler is recalling nearly 1 million 1994- and 1995-model minivans because the driver's-side air bags may deploy unintentionally, the automaker said Friday.
The recall applies to 996,939 Dodge Caravans, Plymouth Voyagers and Chrysler Town & Countrys.
The automaker said it became aware of the problem after receiving about 35 field reports of accidental deployments of driver's-side airbags in those models. DaimlerChrysler (DCX) said the problem is caused by a short circuit in the wiring harness.
DaimlerChrysler said it hasn't received any reports of serious injuries or fatalities related to the problem.
The company said it will notify owners of those models in about a month.
DaimlerChrysler American depositary receipts were up 1/4 at 87-3/16 in afternoon trade. Back to top
