Stock up as ISP confirms discussions about possible 'combinations'

NEW YORK (CNNfn) - Shares of Internet service provider MindSpring Enterprises Inc. rose about 5 percent Thursday as the company confirmed it is in talks about "possible business combinations."
     MindSpring (MSPG) stock was up 4-1/8 at 82-3/4 in early afternoon trading. The Atlanta-based company said it "is considering the possible combinations and other alternatives," but did not provide any further details.
     "The company does not intend to comment further unless these or other discussions result in a definitive agreement," the company said in a statement.
     MindSpring has a market capitalization of about $2.5 billion. Its stock has soared as high as 133 over the past year. Back to top
