Doughnut maker Krispy Kreme considers going public in 2000
|
NEW YORK (CNNfn) - Doughnut maker Krispy Kreme is pondering an initial public offering, targeting the fourth quarter of 1999 as its filing date and offering stock in early 2000.
But nothing is definite yet.
"Completion of such an offering is subject to market conditions and other contingencies," the company said in a statement. "Krispy Kreme will only proceed with the offering if it concludes that doing so is in the best interests of the company and all of its constituencies."

Krispy Kreme may go public if conditions are right
Krispy Kreme enjoys a cult status with doughnut aficionados. Its signature glazed doughnut, first sold in 1937, was available only in the south until recently.
Krispy Kreme now has 148 stores in 26 states. Its sales rank 111th among U.S. restaurant franchises.
Dunkin' Donuts, by comparison, takes in about 10 times as much money.
