NEW YORK (CNNfn) - Top money managers and analysts appeared on CNNfn this week to discuss the stocks they're buying and why. Here's a brief rundown of those recommendations, culled from CNNfn.com's daily feature, "Stock Picks by the Pros."
On Friday, Amgen (AMGN), Carnival (CCL), and Ingersoll-Rand (IR) got the nod. To find out why, and to read more picks, read our Friday edition.
On Thursday, Michael Kwatinetz, computer analyst, Credit Suisse First Boston, had this to say about Apple Computer (AAPL):
"Despite the run it's had, its peers are still at a 30 percent premium on their valuation. So this could be up 50 percent or more over the next 12 months."
Robert Reitzer, portfolio manger, Bear Stearns, noted that in terms of successful upcoming product lines, Merck & Co. (MRK) enjoys the "best pipeline in the drug industry."

On Wednesday, Mona Eraiba, chip analyst at Gruntal & Co., said Intel's (INTC) disappointing third-quarter earnings results actually represent "a buying opportunity. We think it's short-term in nature. Once we start moving into the fourth quarter with strong demand, better manufacturing efficiency, (you'll) see a rebound in the stock."

On Tuesday, Yahoo! (YHOO), AOL (AOL), and Firstar (FSR) all got positive ratings from analysts.
"AOL," said Frederick Moran, Internet strategist, Jefferies & Co, "is the Internet play out there. It is the only fully integrated Internet player in the space. It basically has multi-brands across different areas of the Internet. And their flagship AOL Internet service continues to show very, very powerful subscriber growth."

"Long term to me," said Ray Neidl Monday, "is a year in this business". Neidl, an airline analyst at ING Barings, does have some picks for the long haul, however: Southwest (LUV) and Continental (CAL).
Charles Lemonides, chief investment officer and senior portfolio manager, M and R Capital, also sees some airline stocks taking flight -- he suggests picking up UAL Corp (UAL), the parent company of United Airlines, before it takes off.
