NEW YORK (CNNfn) - Microsoft will use Inktomi’s Internet search engine capabilities on several of its Web sites under an infrastructure deal unveiled Monday.
Financial terms of the alliance were not disclosed.
Inktomi index services and custom service functions will be used by Microsoft’s  (MSFT) MSN Search, MSN Web communities, MSNBC.com, MSN MoneyCentral, WindowsMedia.com and other international search services.
Last week, Inktomi (INKT) took an additional investment stake in content delivery provider Digital Island (ISLD) in a three-way deal with Sun Microsystems (SUNW) that prompted Digital’s stock to rocket more than 70 percent.
On Friday, Inktomi closed up 13/16 to 167-3/4; Microsoft rose 1-1/8 to 93-7/8.  Back to top
