NEW YORK (CNNfn) - If you work at home, be vigilant about con artists who are targeting home-based business owners.
The schemes vary, but are very clever, according an article in the February issue of Consumers Digest. One common fraud is the sale of bogus business start-up "kits."
Business owners should also be wary of advance-fee loans, prizes and sweepstakes, magazine subscription renewals, travel offers, bogus credit cards, investment scams, and credit card loss protection.
If you believe you have been victimized by a con artist, you can call the National Fraud Information Center at (800) 876-7060.
