How the modern business 'road warrior' can keep up with demands

NEW YORK (CNNfn) - If customers, clients or employees complain about how tough it is to reach you, it's time to change your personal telecommunications strategy. Not everyone needs a cell phone, pager and wireless modem, but a true "road warrior" may need all three.
First, decide how you like to communicate with people. If voice mail works better than e-mail, use it, but remember to change your outgoing message daily.
If you prefer e-mail, make sure people have your correct and current e-mail address. Either way, check your messages frequently. Every message must receive a response within 24 hours.
If you can't keep up with the demand, ask an assistant to screen and respond to all but the most critical messages. Take advantage of the competition in the cellular phone service arena. Prices are plummeting and many companies no longer require lengthy service contracts.
