Rambus, Micron Technology, Cardima, Pacific Aerospace most active

NEW YORK (CNNfn) - Late-day earnings announcements and settlements captivated investor interest in the after-hours as a number of tech and biotech stocks showed substantial activity.
The big news in after-hours trade was Rambus (RMBS: Research, Estimates).
Shares of the chipmaker have rose more than 40 percent, up 39-1/2 to 136-5/8, on Island ECN, and also gained 37-7/8 to 135 on MarketXT, following news that Hitachi has signed a patent license agreement with the chipmaker that will end Rambus' patent infringement litigation against the company. The stock was both networks' most active issue.
Computer memory-chip maker Micron Technology (MU: Research, Estimates) today reported a fiscal third-quarter profit of 47 cents a share, easily beating the Street's expectation of 34 cents a share. Investors on MarketXT rewarded the stock slightly, pulling it up 1/8 to 86.
Cardima Inc (CRDM: Research, Estimates), a biotech that develops and manufactures microcatheter-based systems for treating heart patients today received news that the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved its proposal to begin the pivotal Phase III of the company's ongoing trial to treat paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. Shares were active but flat on Island ECN, down 5/32 to close at 1-11/32.
Shares of international technical engineering company Pacific Aerospace & Electronics (PCTH: Research, Estimates) were active but flat on Island ECN, down 1/32 to 2-1/2, on news that Agilent Technologies has made an initial purchase agreement for the company's high frequency microwave switch packages.
