NEW YORK (CNNfn) - David Katz, stock analyst at Matrix Asset Advisors, said on Friday he thinks you can find better bank stocks - including Wachovia and BankAmerica - than Bank of graphicIreland, Intel is a good buy, Lear is a better auto-parts stock than Federal Mogul and Vishay Intertechnology is a good capacitor stock.

Name: Unknown

Question: Bank of Ireland (IRE: Research, Estimates). I mostly invest in Dividend Re-Investment Plans (DRIPs). I noticed the Bank of Ireland offers DRIP and it's currently got a price/earnings ratio of less than 6.  What's your opinion?

Answer: We would not invest in any company merely because they offer DRIPs. Currently we think there are better opportunities throughout the banking group, and would prefer BankAmerica (BAC: Research, Estimates), Wachovia (WB: Research, Estimates), and Wilmington Trust (WL: Research, Estimates). I don't know offhand which of these offer DRIPS.

Name: Betty, Florida

Question: GE (GE: Research, Estimates), Intel (INTC: Research, Estimates). I want to buy GE or Intel. In your opinion, which would be the best investment for the short and long terms?

Answer: Currently we prefer Intel. We would be cautious of GE at current prices.

Name: Jason, Canada

Question: Federal-Mogul (FMO: Research, Estimates). What is your long-term outlook?

Answer: The entire automotive-products group is selling at fire-sale prices. We think many are due for a significant recovery over the next year and a half. Federal Mogul should participate in this recovery; however, we prefer Lear (LEA: Research, Estimates).

Name: Todd, New York

Question: Kemet (KEM: Research, Estimates), Vishay Intertechnology (VSH: Research, Estimates), AVX (AVX: Research, Estimates). How do you see the future of the capacitor industry, including Kemet, Vishay Intertechnology and AVX?

graphicAnswer: It appears that the capacitors and resistors group has solid earnings visibility for the next 18 months. Earnings should continue to come in strongly. Short term, we think the stocks are due for a 20-to-30 percent rally. Our favorite in the group is Vishay.

Name: Bill, Ontario

Question: Corvis (CORV: Research, Estimates). Is it a stock?

Answer: Corvis just went public two weeks ago - it will probably be added within the next month or two. Corvis sells at a very rich valuation - about $26 billion market cap. However, they seem to have a cutting edge technology with enormous potential. We expect some good product wins over the next few months. Having said that, if the stock were to reach $120 a share, we would take profits.
