NEW YORK (CNNfn) - Boeing might spin off some of its high-growth businesses, including parts of its satellite and communications arm and its air traffic management unit, among other options under consideration, according to a published report.

The Financial Times Web site reported Sunday that the Seattle-based aerospace and defense conglomerate's U.S. aerospace group confirmed it was discussing a number of options for the businesses, including issuing tracking stocks and obtaining separate stock market listings.

We're discussing what business models for our fast-growing activities might look like. No definite decisions have been made yet, but it is a fact that the market values our satellite business higher than our traditional aircraft business

"We're discussing what business models for our fast-growing activities might look like," the company said in the FT story. "No definite decisions have been made yet, but it is a fact that the market values our satellite business higher than our traditional aircraft business."

Heralding "a new era for Boeing (BA: Research, Estimates)" last month, Chairman and CEO Phil Condit announced the formation of  three new business divisions - Connexion by Boeing, air traffic management and financial services, the story said.  Connexion by Boeing, its satellite technology division, offers Internet access, live TV broadcasts and online shopping to airliners.

Analysts do not expect Boeing to spin off the entire satellite and communications division, the story said. It is more likely to separate high growth activities such as Connexion by Boeing, the FT reported. graphic
