NEW YORK (CNNfn) - With energy prices soaring and power in short supply, alternative energy has become a hot topic.

Fuel cells and micro-turbines have been getting the most attention. Fuel cells use hydrogen and oxygen to create electricity without combustion, and micro-turbines are low-emission electric generators. That means more efficiency and less pollution. Alternative energy companies have caught the eye of Wall Street.
