NEW YORK (CNNfn) - Two large recalls of children's products -- a record 650,000 baby strollers and 115,000 activity gyms -- were announced Thursday by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

The CPSC said Century Products Co., of Macedonia, Ohio, is recalling about 650,000 4-in-1 strollers because the strollers can unexpectedly collapse or the car seat/carrier adapter can unexpectedly detach.

Century has received 681 reports of incidents, including 250 injuries sustained when the stroller unexpectedly collapsed or the car seat/carrier adapter detached. The most serious of the injuries included concussions, skull fractures, a fractured elbow and chipped teeth.

The recalled strollers go by the model names "Take 2," "Travel Solutions," "Pioneer," "Travelite," and "Pro Sport".

The strollers were sold in various department stores across the country from December 1996 to March 2001.

The CPSC advised parents to stop using the strollers and contact Century for a free repair kit, but to continue using the carriers as car seats.

Separately, the CPSC said K•B Toys, of Pittsfield, Mass., is recalling about 115,000 Electronic Light N' Learn activity gyms, due to the risk of young children choking on small round pegs that may break off from the gym's five hanging rattle toys.

The CPSC and K•B Toys have received six reports of broken rattle toys, including two reports of infant boys beginning to choke on a broken piece of the rattle attachment.

The Electronic Light N' Learn activity gym was sold by K•B Toy store, K•B Toy Works, K•B Toy Outlet, Big Lots, Odd Lots, Pic N Save and MacFrugals nationwide, and on the Internet at KBKids.com, from September 2000 through January 2001.

The CPSC advised consumers to return the toy immediately to the store of purchase for a refund. Those who purchased the toy online should return the toy to the nearest K•B Toy store or contact K•B Toys for return information. graphic
