AOL to promote consumer services; Cendant sees earnings boost in 2002

NEW YORK (CNNfn) - America Online Inc. and Trilegiant Corp. are expanding their member services agreement and entering a new marketing partnership, which Trilegiant parent Cendant Corp. expects to boost the bottom line in fiscal 2002.
Trilegiant operates consumer membership programs such as Shoppers Advantage, Traveler's Advantage, Autovantage and PrivacyGuard.
The company plans to feature AOL services through various distribution channels. In exchange, AOL, a unit of AOL Time Warner (AOL: up $0.63 to $40.71, Research, Estimates), parent of CNNfn.com, will offer Trilegiant services through its own Internet service.
Cendant (CD: down $0.17 to $20.60, Research, Estimates) said it expects the new marketing agreements to have a positive impact on earnings per share beginning in 2002.
Under terms of the marketing agreement, Trilegiant will acquire subscribers for AOL and receive commissions. As part of its existing royalty arrangement with Trilegiant, Cendant will receive a share of those commissions, the companies said.
