States to ask judge to come up with tougher sanctions in antitrust case.
|
NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - The nine states and the District of Columbia that have rejected the U.S. government's proposed antitrust settlement with Microsoft are asking a federal judge to impose tougher enforcement sanctions.
One of the attorneys general at the National Association of Attorneys General conference in Newport Beach, Calif., told CNNfn that he expects the states to come up with entirely different and tougher enforcement sanctions.
But in their proposed remedies, the attorney general said the states will not ask the judge to force Microsoft to reveal its source code, and the software maker will not be barred from bundling additional programs within its Windows program.
He said a thorny question that will be hashed out by the attorneys general is how to set the price for the unbundled version.
