DaimlerChrysler says 120,000 of the SUVs have air bag defect.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - DaimlerChrysler said it is recalling 120,000 new Jeep Liberty sport/utility vehicles because of a defect in the air bag system.
In independent testing it was found there was a problem in a sensor wire that caused the air bag to deploy late.
The recall covers all Jeep Libertys manufactured through Nov. 27. There have been no reports of accidents or injuries related to the defect.
"During a recent crash test, it was determined that a bracket may scrape a sensor wire during a severe frontal crash, causing the air bag to deploy at a slightly slower rate," DaimlerChrysler (DCX: down $0.04 to $43.69, Research, Estimates), the world's No. 3 automaker, said Thursday. "Chrysler Group will begin notifying owners shortly as to the process for getting their vehicle repaired."
Chrysler also said about two-thirds of the same vehicles have an additional problem involving a locking clip on the instrument panel on the driver's side.
All Jeep Libertys built through Sept. 13 will be recalled to have that problem fixed. There have been 13 complaints but no injuries involving this defect.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been notified of the recall as required by law.
