WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Department of Labor said Friday problems with its January Producer Price Index will force it to delay the February report, originally scheduled for release on March 12.
It did not set a date for the release of either the long-postponed January report or the February data.

"As announced on Feb. 17, the release of the Producer Price Index (PPI) for January 2004 has been delayed from the originally scheduled date of February 19, 2004," the department's Bureau of Labor Statistics said on its Web site.
"The length of that delay now means that the release of February data originally scheduled for Friday, March 12, must also be postponed," it said.
The January data was delayed because of difficulties in updating seasonal adjustment factors and conversion to a new statistical system.
