NEW YORK (CNN/Money) -
Some people love Bill Clinton and some hate him. And at least one person was willing to fork over $675 for an autographed copy of his new book.
Bidding on eBay for one copy of "My Life," signed in New York City according to the seller, closed at $675 by 5:20 p.m. ET Wednesday.
A total of 36 bids were placed on the book, and more than 7,876 people had visited the page. Other eBay auctions for signed copies with more time left had lower bids, which may rise as the bidding draws to a close.
Clinton's book was flying off the shelves of the nation's bookstores Tuesday, the day it went on sale.
"My Life" was selling for about $35 in some bookstores, and others such as Barnes & Noble in New York's Columbus Circle were selling it at a 30 percent discount. It is also available for about $20 on online sites eBay (EBAY: Research, Estimates) and Amazon.com (AMZN: Research, Estimates).
Buyers waited for hours to get an autographed copy of the book in New York, where Clinton appeared at two bookstores Tuesday.
Barnes & Noble said Wednesday that the book is projected to have set a single-day non-fiction sales record of 90,000 to 100,000 copies sold nationwide.
The release of his autobiography will likely be an enormous payday for the 42nd President as publisher Alfred A. Knopf reportedly dished out an advance of $10 million to $12 million for Clinton's memoirs.
In addition, Clinton has had an extensive speaking circuit, with the take from an event averaging $159,000.
