NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Flamboyant rocker Sir Elton John will be getting plenty of frequent flier miles. Well, at least his face will.

An image of the British pop singer will begin appearing on more than 20 AirTran Airways jets to promote the launch of satellite radio on its aircraft, the low-cost carrier said Wednesday.

Orlando, Fla-based AirTran (Research), which uses Atlanta as its main hub, said passengers will eventually be able to listen to more 100 channels through the XM Satellite Radio (Research) system on all of its flights.

The airline said it currently has 3 planes equipped with XM service and plans to have it installed on 17 more by the end of February. Installation on the remainder of its fleet of 90 will continue through summer 2005.

AirTran said it is the first airline to offer satellite radio service on its fleet. "Our partnership with XM Satellite Radio gives us a competitive edge when it comes to in-flight entertainment technologies," Robert Fornaro, president of AirTran, said in a statement.

The airline declined to discuss its arrangement with the pop superstar but said it presented a check of $50,000 to Elton John's AIDS Foundation.

John, whose biggest hits include "Rocket Man," "Candle in the Wind" and "Bennie and the Jets" will also receive a model of the plane from AirTran.  Top of page
