NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Just in case you needed a little more pick-me-up in that caffeinated beverage, Starbucks Corp. announced Thursday that it is partnering with whisky maker Jim Beam to produce a coffee flavored liqueur.

According to a joint press release from Starbucks (Research) and Jim Beam, it's a natural match as nearly 50 percent of Starbucks patrons already consume coffee liqueurs, more than nine times the national average.

"Extending our brand into new channels outside of Starbucks stores is part of our long-term growth strategy," said Jim Donald, Starbucks chief executive officer designate. "The test market phase of this new product rollout confirmed what we already knew -- Starbucks coffee lovers want this product."

Starbucks Coffee Liqueur won't be available in regular Starbucks stores but will instead be distributed by Jim Beam's parent company, Fortune Brands (Research).

According to the release, a 750 ml bottle will retail for approximately $22.99.  Top of page
