NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - If you love Windows, raise your hand, then shake the hand of Bill Gates.

Microsoft Corp. (Research) announced a call for entries in the "Start Something Amazing Awards," soliciting true stories about what people are passionate about and how Windows has helped bring that passion to life.

In addition to meeting the chairman of Microsoft in Redmond Wash., prizes include an overseas trip with National Geographic Expedition, VIP access to a major movie premiere and a home makeover with an HGTV designer.

One winner will be selected from each of five categories: culture and community, music, memories, home and lifestyle, and sports and games.

The winner of the culture and community category could get the highest valued prize -- a trip for two people, including airfare, to Tanzania and Zanzibar for 12 nights, valued at $17,980.

One of the five winners will receive the grand prize and have their story featured in a national "Start Something Amazing" marketing campaign tied to the 20th anniversary of Windows' debut.

"Whether it's raising donations for favorite causes or recording a first album, the incredible advancements in technology and the Windows platform offer individuals greater opportunities to follow their passions," Gates said in a statement.

"With Windows, people have a vast choice of tools, applications and devices to start anything they like."

Microsoft plans to select winners in October.
