Apple rolling out new Macs next week?
Report: Apple rolling out new Mac minis, iBooks next week
July 22, 2005: 4:41 PM EDT

NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Apple may be gearing up to unveil a new slate of mini-Macs and may also release updated versions of its popular iBook laptop computers as early as next Tuesday, according to unconfirmed reports on a Web site that tracks Apple.

The Web site Think Secret reported three new Mac mini and two new iBook part numbers have appeared in Apple's retail database, indicating that new models are imminent.

Apple would neither confirm nor deny the reports. "We don't comment on rumors or speculation," said a spokesperson for the company.

Earlier this week, sources told Apple Insider, another Web site that follows the company, that the Apple was looking to get rid of its existing inventory through retail discount merchants such as Overstock.com, which the Web site reported is a clear sign that new models are about to be unveiled.

The new mini models will be priced at $499, $599 and $699, with new iBooks priced at $999 and $1,299, according to Think Secret.

Earlier this month, Apple reported fiscal third quarter sales of $3.52 billion, up 75% from a year ago, boosted by record sales of the iPod. The company shipped 6.2 million units in the quarter, which ended in June, up from 860,000 a year ago.
