NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Could it be this easy? Gap's new marketing promotions will give customers a free iTunes download just for trying on a pair of its jeans.

According to the San Francisco-based retailer, the joint promotion with Apple Computer kicks off next month with Gap's "Find Your Favorite Fit" event at stores nationwide.

From August 8 to 31, each customer who tries on any pair of Gap's new jean fits -- three new fits for women and one for men -- will get a complimentary song from Apple's iTunes music store.

"The relationship between jeans and music is a hallmark of Gap's identity, so we're thrilled to team up with iTunes to bring this connection to life for our customers," Jeff Jones, executive vice president of Gap marketing, said in a statement.

In the fall, the retailer will roll the second phase of the "Favorites" campaign, including print and television ads that will feature a cast of musicians including singers Alanis Morissette, Joss Stone, Michelle Williams from the group "Destiny's Child," among others performing an original remake of their favorite song while wearing Gap jeans.
