NEW YORK (CNN/Money) – A federal safety agency announced Tuesday the recall of nearly 1 million bamboo Tiki torches and replacement canisters.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission said that the Tiki Bamboo Torches, manufactured by Lamplight Farms, pose a risk of catching on fire and causing burns or property damage.

So far, Lamplight Farms has received 33 reports of torches catching fire. Six reports of minor injuries and nine reports of property damaged have been lodged with the manufacturer.

The product safety agency said that the metal flame guard, which surrounds the wick, can absorb the fuel and ignite. The recall affects 963,000 torches and also covers 18,000 replacement cannisters that have the same metal flame guard.

The torches and replacement cannisters were sold at retailers Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Lowe's and other home and hardware stores from December 2004 to July 2005.

The product safety agency urges consumers to stop using the torches immediately and contact Lamplight at 1-866-239-6664 to determine if their torch falls under the recall. If so, the owner will receive a replacement flame guard.
