NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - The Jaguar XJ was the top-ranked premium luxury vehicle and the Scion xB was the top compact car in a recent owner satisfaction survey by an automotive marketing consulting firm.

Nissan had the most top-ranked vehicles, taking seven of 17 categories in the survey. Lexus, although it did not top any single vehicle category, was rated as the top brand overall in the survey. Lexus just barely edged out Cadillac which also did not have any top-rated vehicles, AutoPacific said.

AutoPacific surveyed owners about 45 specific areas related to their vehicles' operation, comfort, safety and overall purchase or leasing experience. The new ratings reflect input from buyers or lessees of new vehicles acquired from September 2004 through January 2005, the company said.
