Nickelodeon's SpongeBob Square Pants will be one of Nickelodeon's programs available for download on new Hasbro multi-media device.

NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Taking a page from their adult contemporaries, Hasbro will now offer kids the chance to take episodes of "SpongeBob SquarePants" and "Dexter's Laboratory" with them anywhere they go.

Making the announcement Monday, Hasbro's (up $0.04 to $19.76, Research) Tiger Electronics said it will carry programs of kids' cable television channels Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network on its new portable VUGO multi-media device.

"We are thrilled to have alliances with both Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon, as Tiger Electronics continues to deliver the kind of exciting, must-have entertainment that our tween audience loves," Brian Goldner, President, Hasbro's U.S. toy segment said in a statement.

The move, which appears to copy the success Apple Inc. (down $0.43 to $61.11, Research) has had with owners of its video iPod being able to download their favorite ABC television shows, is aimed at the tween market, or kids between the ages of 8 and 12 years old, according to the companies.

Owners of the VUGO device, which also plays music and displays photos, will be able to download content from a number of Nickelodeon shows including "Jimmy Neutron" and "SpongeBob SquarePants." Fans of Cartoon Network will be able to get such programs as "Courage the Cowardly Dog" and "Dexter's Labratory."

The VUGO device is slated for release this November.

Time Warner is the parent company of both Cartoon Network and CNN/Money.
