Exelon ranks No. 144 on the 2006 FORTUNE 500
The Chicago-based company is on FORTUNE's latest list of America's largest corporations.
NEW YORK (FORTUNE) - Exelon (Research) ranks no. 144 on this year's list of the FORTUNE 500, with $15,405 million in revenues, up 6.1% from the previous year. The Chicago-based company was ranked no. 145 on the 2005 list. Its 2005 profits were $923 million, down 50.5% from a year earlier. This year, FORTUNE 500 companies overall brought in a record $9.1 trillion in revenues and $610 billion in profits. And while the economy as a whole grew 3.5% last year, FORTUNE 500 companies did much better, increasing their revenues by a healthy 15.4%.
The FORTUNE 500 list is an annual ranking of America's largest corporations by revenues. Its companies employ more than 24 million people, about 16% of working Americans. Some of the other companies in this sector on this year's list are Duke Energy (Research), Dominion Resources (Research), Southern (Research), Public Service Enterprise Group (Research) and FirstEnergy (Research).
