NYSE to close early on July 3
Big Board will close at 1 p.m. ET the day ahead of Independence Day, as well as the day after Thanksgiving.
NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) - Trading on the New York Stock Exchange will wrap up early the day before Independence Day and the day after Thanksgiving, according to the exchange's Web site. Board members of the NYSE approved the early closings on Thursday, which means that the exchange will now close at 1 p.m. ET, three hours early, on both Monday, July 3rd, and Friday, Nov. 24th.
It's not clear whether the Nasdaq market will close early on the day before July 4th and the day after Thanksgiving, but the electronic exchange typically tracks trading hours at the NYSE. Its Web site indicates it will be open for normal trading hours. A Nasdaq spokesman didn't immediately return a call for comment. The NYSE has ended trading early before holidays in the past and is scheduled to be closed for nine holidays this year, including Thanksgiving and Independence Day, according to its Web site. _____________
