John Legend heads GM party cast

Invitation-only party will also feature a runway show of 17 new automobiles.


NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- General Motors Corp. will host its first ever invitation-only event in Detroit this weekend in red carpet style with a long list of confirmed celebrities to attend.

Three-time Grammy winner John Legend is scheduled to perform at the GM Style event in a pavilion said to be longer than a football field and climate controlled, which was constructed by the automaker.

The event will also feature a runway show with celebrities, paired with the latest-fashion trends, driving or escorting 17 new GM (Charts) vehicle and concept cars.

UK recording artist Lady Sovereign will open for Legend. Jimmy Kimmel, host of Disney's (Charts) ABC show "Jimmy Kimmel Live," will emcee and the event will be broadcast live and be available for viewing on the company's Web site.

Confirmed stars attending include Carmen Electra, Jennifer Hudson, Mario Lopez, Vivica A. Fox, Rosie Perez, Ashley Scott from the CBS (Charts) show "Jericho," Minka Kelly from GE's (Charts) NBC show "Friday Night Lights," surfer Laird Hamilton, rapper Nick Cannon, America's Next Top Model Cycle 7 winner CariDee English, actress Kristen Bell, and volley ball player and model Gabrielle Reece among others.

The bash precedes the 100th annual North American International auto show on Sunday.
