Ex-Tyco exec returns to prison

The imprisoned former chairman, Dennis Kozlowski, back behind bars Thursday after being hospitalized.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Former Tyco International chairman Dennis Kozlowski returned to prison early Thursday afternoon after being hospitalized, according to a prison spokeswoman.

Kozlowski is currently being housed in the Mid-State Correctional Facility's infirmary in New York, according to the facility's spokeswoman Linda Foglia.

Foglia added that Kozlowski was taken to the hospital on Jan. 3 but declined to comment on what he was being treated for or provide any information regarding his condition.

The imprisoned ex-Tyco (up $0.69 to $32.15, Charts) executive, who is serving an 8-1/3-to-25-year sentence, was convicted in June 2005 and found guilty of looting the company.

The verdict was reached after the first trial against him in April 2004 ended in a mistrial after a juror reported receiving threats.

In the first trial, prosecutors focused on what they called misuse of Tyco's money, including a $2 million birthday party Kozlowski threw for his wife on the Italian island of Sardinia and a $6,000 shower curtain allegedly purchased with company funds.
