EA, Spielberg reveal video game details

The video game publisher and award winning director, producer announce details of original games that are being developed.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Electronic Arts Inc. Tuesday unveiled the first details of original video games in development in a collaborative project with Academy Award winning director and producer Steven Spielberg.

The world's largest video game publisher and Spielberg said two of three new original properties are in development at EA Los Angeles (EALA).

"I am a gamer myself and game development has always intrigued me," Steven Spielberg said in a joint statement with EA (Charts). "Now I've been able to jump in and do it, enjoying the creative collaboration with the EALA team on our first two games and I feel we have two incredibly unique projects in development."

One out of the two projects will be exclusive for the Nintendo Wii game console with features that allow players of all ages to compete in over a hundred interactive games. The Wii remote will also have capabilities to build or destroy games.

The second project, geared towards Sony's (Charts) PlayStation 3, Microsoft's (Charts, Fortune 500) Xbox 360 and personal computers, is a game that leads a player through an emotional journey where each players' actions tell a story. Top of page
