Big selloff at Wall Street start

U.S. stocks falter at open on concerns about oil and housing; Nasdaq down 1%.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- U.S. stocks weakened at Thursday's open on concerns about oil and housing.

The Dow Jones industrial average lost 0.6 percent. The Nasdaq composite index skidded 1.1 percent. The Standard & Poor's 500 index was 0.3 percent lower.
