Stocks in standstill

U.S. markets flat as investors await key housing, auto reports.


NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- U.S. stocks were little changed at Tuesday's open as investors awaited some key reports in the housing and auto sectors.

The Dow Jones industrial average was just below breakeven, while the Nasdaq composite index was just above it. The Standard & Poor's 500 index was virtually flat.
