Techs surge at openNasdaq up 1.3% after Yahoo, Intel results; blue chip gains more modest.NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Tech stocks were the stars as U.S. markets posted solid gains at Wednesday's open, thanks in part to results from bellwethers Yahoo and Intel The Dow Jones industrial average rose 0.7 percent. The tech-laden Nasdaq composite index surged 1.4 percent. The Standard & Poor's 500 index was 0.7 percent higher. Among stocks in the news Wednesday: Yahoo (Charts, Fortune 500), Intel (Charts, Fortune 500), IBM (Charts, Fortune 500), JP Morgan Chase (Charts, Fortune 500), Coca-Cola (Charts, Fortune 500) and Cablevision Systems (Charts, Fortune 500). |
