Gas prices edge lower
Price at the pump declines for the second day in a row this week, AAA survey shows.
NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Retail gas and diesel prices have fallen for the second consecutive day this week, according to a daily survey released Tuesday.
The national average price for a gallon of regular gas fell three-tenths of a cent to $4.069 from $4.072 the previous day, auto club AAA reported.
Retail gas prices are about 3.5% higher than they were last month and nearly 37% above year-ago levels.
California has the highest gas prices. The price for a gallon of gas in the golden state averages $4.603. Alaska has the second highest average gas price at $4.564, followed by Connecticut at $4.370.
The lowest gas prices in the nation can be found in Oklahoma, where a gallon of gas averages $3.830.
The national average diesel price fell from $4.770 a gallon to $4.772, the AAA survey showed.
Crude oil prices rose to around $138 a barrel in electronic trading early Tuesday morning amid concerns about supply from Nigeria and tensions in the Middle East.
