NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Unemployment is at a 16-year high and with the economy bleeding jobs. Is there hope for someone who doesn't have a college degree to fall back on?
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 44% of jobs require a high school diploma and 25% require a bachelors degree or higher.
And through 2016 jobs that do require a high school diploma will grow by 7.7% while jobs that require a bachelors degree will grow almost 15%.
Let's look at the average earnings of people and the various degrees they hold:
- High School Graduate: $41,600
- Bachelor's Degree: $52, 624
- Master's Degree: $64,116
- Doctorate Degree: $81,172
