NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- What better way to celebrate National Hamburger Month than with the aroma of a greasy White Castle burger? With the fast food chain's new scented candle, burger lovers can now enjoy the smell of sliders and onions all day long.
The candle's "steam grilled on a bed of onions" scent was created by Nest Fragrances, and the limited-edition candle comes in a ceramic holder designed to mimic White Castle's hamburger packaging, the fast food chain said this week.
"When I think of truly superior aromas, I think of the aroma of a freshly grilled White Castle hamburger -- life just doesn't get better than that," Laura Slatkin, founder of Nest Fragrances, said in a prepared statement. "We have captured that exact essence in our White Castle candle!"
Before creating the burger-infused candle for White Castle, Slatkin developed special fragrances for celebrities including Elton John, Princess Diana and Vera Wang.
The fast-food chain is selling the candles for $10 online and at select White Castle restaurants during National Hamburger Month, which lasts from May 1 to May 31. The proceeds will go to Autism Speaks, an autism science and advocacy organization.
So far, it appears that the promotion has been a hit. While the candle went on sale Monday, White Castle's website already tells shoppers that the candle is sold out -- for now. ![]()
