Whitney Houston's music has soared to the top of the charts, rivaled only by Grammy-winner Adele Adkins, following her death this weekend.
NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Whitney Houston's music skyrocketed to the top of the charts in the wake of the singer's death, which was announced on Saturday.
Houston's recordings ruled the top 175 songs on Apple's (APPL) iTunes on Monday, led by her recording of the Dolly Parton song, "I Will Always Love You."
"I Wanna Dance with Somebody" and "Greatest Love of All," both from Houston's "The Greatest Hits" album, clocked in at numbers two and three.
Houston's albums also dominated the top 10 albums on Amazon.com. "The Greatest Hits" and "Ultimate Collection" held the first and second slots. Her soundtrack from the movie "The Bodyguard" and her album "Whitney Houston" were numbers four and five.
Amazon's third most popular album was "21" by singer Adele Adkins, who raked in six Grammys on Sunday. Early Monday, Adkins had the top-selling album on Amazon.com, but that position was usurped by Houstonat midday.
Houston, 48, has been a major pop star since the 1980s, and her popularity resurged following news of her death this weekend.
She sold more than 170 million albums, singles and videos during her career with Arista Records, according to Houston's official web site, and "I Will Always Love You" is the top-selling single of all time. She is the only musician with seven consecutive number one hits and seven consecutive multi-platinum albums.
Houston was found dead in her suite at the Beverly Hilton after attending a pre-Grammy party, hours before she was scheduled to attend another. Authorities have provided few details regarding the circumstances of her death.
An autopsy was performed on Houston, but the cause of death is yet to be released. ![]()
