'The Larry Sanders Show' to be available for streaming on HBO in September

"The Larry Sanders Show" legacy will live on at HBO.

The network announced Saturday the comedy series, starring the late Garry Shandling, will be made available for streaming and on demand starting September 23.

HBO says the deal to secure the series for its platforms was made official March 23, the day before Shandling died at age 66.

"The Larry Sanders Show" ran for six seasons on HBO from from 1992-98.

The series, created by and starring Shandling, centered on a fictional late-night talk show host.

HBO made the announcement ahead of a day of presentations at the Television Critics Association press tour.

The network also announced it has renewed "Real Time with Bill Maher" through 2018.

HBO, like CNN, is owned by Time Warner.
