Honda readies sleek hydrogen car for sale next year

With the new FCX, Honda will take the next step in taking hydrogen powered cars beyond the laboratory.

The interior is similarly modern and tasteful. (In keeping with the ecological theme, the fabric is made from renewable materials.) The FCX concept car's interior feels rich and luxurious. That doesn't necessarily mean the production version will be this way, but Honda said the FCX concept they allowed reporters to test is very close to the production car.

Honda wants the FCX to look and feel upscale.

"It will be positioned as the ultimate environmental badge of honor for our customers," said Ben Knight, Honda's vice president for American research and development.
