Latest from Frankfurt Motor Show

Car companies show off new Euro models and 'green' concept cars. Some could be for sale here soon.

Volkswagen Golf Bluemotion
In the United States, Volkswagen bowed out of the diesel car market for the 2007 model year but vowed to return soon once it had cars ready to meet strict new emissions standards here.

The Bluemotion Golf is one of five new VW diesels the company will show in Frankfurt this year. It is expected to get about 52 miles per gallon of diesel fuel, according to the company.

It's powered by a 103-horsepower turbodiesel engine. Special software minimizes the engine's idling speed for further fuel savings, and longer gear ratios keep engine speeds low while driving.
