Newest little Scion comes up short

Beyond its funky looks, the xD is a rather ordinary little economy car but not much more.

Bins, boxes and cubbies
With Americans spending more and more time in their cars, storage space has become a competitive battleground. Where one glove compartment used to be just fine, now many cars, including the xD, have two.

In this case, the split-level glove compartment is just a replacement for missing center console storage.

There are plenty of smaller open bins around, though, and a little closable box to the steering wheel.

I even found a slot next to my seat that was the perfect size for my cell-phone.

If you're thirsty, there's plenty of beverage space. The xD has two cupholders between the front seats, "bottle holders" in the doors and yet another cupholder that pops out of the dashboard in front of the passenger seat.
