A concept vehicle to be shown in Detroit suggests what a more compact version might look like with a few new twists.

"Hummer appeals to young people globally and served as a perfect assignment for our newest talent," GM global design chief Ed Welburn announced.

The three new GM designers were given a few pointers on what makes a Hummer a Hummer, just enough direction to ensure they stayed true to the brand.

Carl Zipfel, director of GM's Hummer design studio, assigned each of the three designers a specific attribute on which to focus.
