The incredible shrinking Hummer

A concept vehicle to be shown in Detroit suggests what a more compact version might look like with a few new twists.

"Carl definitely set the tone," said designer David Rojas in GM's announcement. "While he gave us creative liberty to and challenged us to develop innovative ideas, he also defined three Hummer proportions - wheelbase, approach and departure angles and stance - and assigned one to each of us."

Rojas's blue fastback Hummer most closely resembles the vehicle that will ultimately be shown in Detroit in January.

The Hummer HX will be easily customizable. It will have removable doors and fender flares, features similar to ones found on the current Jeep Wrangler, which is made by Chrysler LLC.
