The incredible shrinking Hummer

A concept vehicle to be shown in Detroit suggests what a more compact version might look like with a few new twists.

Ultimately, the designers didn't want to simply recreate the larger Hummers of the past on a smaller scale.

"While we took inspiration from the Hummer heritage and DNA, we each wanted to evolve it in a new way," said designer Robert Jablonski. "We agreed it should be contemporary, compact and definitely open air."

The final HX concept will be, basically, a convertible. It will have a pair of removable roof panels over the front seats and a sectional rear roof assembly that can also be easily removed.
